After many years of working in the environmental field I decided to have a major career change and started studying in the area of Reiki. I took three years in developing my knowledge in this area and became a Reiki Master in April 2009. This was just the beginning of a desire to improve my knowledge and understanding of Holistic Therapies and I went on to study at the well-respected Practitioners School of Reflexologists with an ABC level 3 Diploma. Reflexology is my main therapy and it never ceases to amaze me on a daily basis. I started having regular reflexology treatments in April 2009 due to my own fertility issues. I had come off the contraceptive pill after 13 years in January 2009, however my periods had yet to return for several months. Having been diagnosed with endometriosis, polycystic ovaries and an under-active thyroid prior to this the likelihood that I was to conceive naturally were quite low. After 4 treatments of reflexology and research into my own cycle my periods started returning. By September 2009 my periods had come back regularly and within 3 months I fell pregnant. It was the best Christmas present ever. Due to my own fertility journey I have a real passion in this area to help others achieve their dream in becoming parents.
I qualified with a level 3 ABC Diploma in August 2010 at the acclaimed Practitioners School of Reflexology at Middlesex Hospital ran by Andrew James author of Hands on Reflexology and A Guide to Homeopathy. The course was accredited by the Association of Reflexologists (AoR). The course was very detailed and I completed 60 hours of practical treatments with case study work as well as a theory exam. I was an awarded with a Distinction. In November 2010 I completed a course in Reproflexology (reflexology specifically for fertility) which is run by Seren Natural Fertility. The techniques learnt on this course are to help people looking to conceive, are having fertility issues and are going through IVF. I have completed several case studies and research in this area.
I am a full Member of Association of Reflexologists (MAR). This professional body regulates and monitors Reflexology. In order to be a member, Therapists must hold a recognized qualification, abide by their code of ethics and achieve the required yearly CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points. I regularly attend seminars, group meetings and courses in order to meet these high standards.
I am a Natural Family Planning Teacher having completed a course with Natural Family Planning Teachers Association in January 2014. I am able to teach couples the body basal temperature and cervical mucus method of tracking their cycles, enabling couples to recognize their own unique ovulation symptoms and to establish their fertility window.
I am also a qualified Nutritional Therapist. I have a real passion about how food is the foundations of being happy and healthy. I have a lot of personal knowledge in the area of Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) having suffered with one for 8 years. Through good nutrition, supplements and alternative therapies I no longer need to take medication.
I work from a peaceful and relaxing log cabin in the garden in Crowthorne. My at home treatment room is accessible from Wokingham, Bracknell, Yateley, Sandhurst, Camberley and Fleet.
